Welcome to the Flatdogs mountain bike Club

Affiliated to Central Gauteng Cycling and Cycling SA, we are based in Brackenhurst, Alberton and cater for mountain biking in the South of Johannesburg, Gauteng region. In addition to cycling out of town routes on occasion, our regular riding and training takes us through the Alberton, Walkerville and Randvaal areas where we have endless tracks.

Flatdogs was the first club to offer organised mountain biking and mountain bike racing in the area. In 2003 we started developing the Rietvlei Zoo Farm cycle park which is now run on a full time basis by Wendell Bole at the Cycle Hub who is doing a fantastic job of developing the Vlei Cycle Park.

To date we've had 3 riders represent South Africa at World Masters Championships, one in France 2008 and two in Brazil 2010.

The 3 main reasons for the existence of our MTB club are :-

  • Get people riding bicycles
  • Identify and encourage the development of talented riders
  • Add value to our lives by having FUN
